Hi all. I just got a Kingdom of Loathing character today and I am enjoying the game a load. Any tips, thoughts, and stuff will be greatly appreciated for newcomers to the game. The game is at http://kingdomofloathing.com And if you use the chat system, it would be best to use ancient chat. Note that you must go through the Temple of Literacy before you can go into the chat.

There was a whole topic about this with a whole bunch of posts somewhere on these boards. I'm not sure if it's locked or not, but you might find some useful information in there.
I used to play, but I got tired of it. It's been at least a year since I logged in.

glad you Enjoy the game, if you need help, just message me. I'm phantom fox in there.

The cool thing is that I can get onto the site from my Apex. I have been playing for what has to be the most boring school day I have ever taken part in.

Welcome to the kingdom; it's fun! I haven't played in a while, but may get back. Last character was a pastamancer; maybe I'll try a turtle tamer or seal clubber. The kingdom has a wiki full of hints, and there are messages on here.

I am in the clan Kingdom of Loathing Addicts.

I use to be in a clan but got voted off the island. loll

Post 8 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 27-Apr-2013 21:05:58

Ah, that does suck. Do you know of any tricks to kill the damn bossbat? He is a level four beast, and I can't kill him!

Post 9 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Saturday, 27-Apr-2013 23:24:44

if yore clan have ball pit in the rumpus room, use them, or buff your self.
use buffy for free buffs.

@ Dave_H, and those who want to joint a cool clan, you could join (Eric Cartman's sweet clan)

Post 11 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 9:13:21

I never figured out how to make Buffy buff me up. What command does he require?

Post 12 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 12:53:43

Or, you could play like a mortal, and use, I think, 3 of those Sonar-in-a-biscuit to get the boss bat?

Post 13 by mat the musician (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 17:50:22

I used to play but got extremelyh frustrated with a certain quest (the epic weapon quest), in which you need to re-arrange pieces of paper to form the password. Note that this part of the game does nhot, to my knowledge, work on the Apex.
@Dave_H, yes, three sonar cookies kill the boss bat, though things could have changed, (I haven't played in a year or two.

Post 14 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 20:02:38

Problem is, I can't get to the bossbat for what ever reason.

Post 15 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 23:36:20

for commands for buffy, just type in your chat box, /w buffy buff + the name of the buff. IE /w buffy buff booze
or you could go to there site mention abuv and type your user name and in the next editt box, the number of buffs you want.
hope that helps.

Post 16 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Sunday, 28-Apr-2013 23:38:49

if you mean, you can't open the boss bat's chamber, you could open it in 2 ways.
you could use sonars in a bisket or you could fight a screem bat.

Post 17 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 29-Apr-2013 8:49:48

I can't damage the bossbat. He owns me every time, no matter what I do to him.

Post 18 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 29-Apr-2013 23:32:13

you could level up first to like 5 or 6 and just come back to kill him.

Post 19 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2013 9:14:10

True. But I do a paltry one damage! Wow. But what about the other quests? The quests for five would be skipped, no?

Post 20 by rusty81 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2013 23:20:21

nope. you could still do the hier level quest

Post 21 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 01-May-2013 6:53:01

Awesome! I think the quests are quirky and fun, especially the one about the sausage at Cobb's Knob. I got a kick out of that one.

Post 22 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 01-May-2013 16:42:36

It could be you don't have the right armor on, seeing as many of the quests you earn clothes from killing the lesser. Then go to your campsite and I believe the closet, then select from the drop down box your outfit and click Dress Up, which will put you in the outfit that you want for that quest. Of course I then exchange the weapon for the one I actually want to use but there you have it.

Post 23 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 01-May-2013 17:08:30

I do enjoy the collosal closet, thank god they made that feature. It has, truth be told, been a godsend.

Post 24 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 01-May-2013 23:48:06

If you don't want to use the closet, you can also click on outfits in your inventory, if you don't mind waiting a few minutes for the page to load. Then again, you might not have all that many yet, so maybe it won't take that long.

Post 25 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 02-May-2013 10:28:03

Can someone help me build the Epic Sealclubbing Club? I can't find the pieces for it.

Post 26 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Saturday, 04-May-2013 0:52:03

I don't know anything about seal clubbers. I was always a turtle tamer. Have you checked out the Wiki? That's the most accurate way to get information about crafting and stuff. When I used to play, I'd have a page on the wiki open in one tab, and the game open in another, so I could switch back and forth when I wanted to read about what to do next.

Thanks for suggesting the wiki. My sauceror is looking for something to do; just recovered the pretentious artist's supplies.

Post 29 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 04-May-2013 18:11:20

I had to get stuff from Da Grassi for the janitor guy.

Post 30 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Saturday, 04-May-2013 22:19:43

Oh, I may need to get some car parts for the guild master's bitchin meat car.

Post 31 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Sunday, 05-May-2013 2:12:24

I enjoyed making the Bitchin Meat Car, too bad you can't drive it.
I do like the game, just haven't been on in quite awhile, will have to give it a go with the iPhone at some point.

Post 32 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 05-May-2013 2:33:10

Leo: You'll find that the interface with the iPhone is great! I have been using both my Apex and iPod (don't have a phone) to play the game.

Post 33 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Sunday, 05-May-2013 13:35:30

The puns, alone, make the game very entertaining! Now, if only, this poor sauceror can get levelled up to 4. Stuck at 3. Oh, well, back to killing things. lol.

Post 34 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 05-May-2013 16:09:00

That's how they roll. Kill stuff and level.

Post 35 by Shell Script (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 07-May-2013 7:54:20

Hi all. I just killed the boss bat. I reccomend that you get to level six, and get the Elite Knob Goblin Molearm. That is a good weapon, and it will serve you all well.
